Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the latest version of Google Analytics, and it offers a number of new features and capabilities over its predecessor, Universal Analytics (UA). However, UA will continue to be supported until July 1, 2023.
If you are already using UA, you can connect your GA4 property to your UA property so that you can view data from both properties in the same interface. This can be helpful for comparing data between the two platforms and for migrating to GA4.
To connect your GA4 property to your UA property, you can follow these steps:
- Go to the Admin section of your UA property.
- In the Property column, click GA4 Setup Assistant.
- In the I want to connect an existing Google Analytics 4 Property section, select your GA4 property and click Connect properties.
- Once the properties are connected, you will see a Connected to notice next to the GA4 Setup Assistant in the Property column.
You can now view data from both your UA property and your GA4 property in the same interface. To do this, go to the Reports section of your UA property and select the GA4 tab.
You can also use the Data Explorer to compare data between your UA property and your GA4 property. To do this, go to the Data Explorer section of your UA property and select the Compare tab.
Once you have connected your GA4 property to your UA property, you can start migrating to GA4. To do this, you can follow the instructions in the Google Analytics help documentation: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9744165?hl=en.
Here are some of the benefits of connecting your GA4 property to your UA property:
- You can view data from both properties in the same interface.
- You can compare data between the two properties.
- You can migrate to GA4 more easily.
If you are using UA, I recommend connecting your GA4 property to your UA property so that you can take advantage of these benefits.
